This is a collection of short in-character fiction pieces about Awakened Industries, a group of capsuleers and their crews living in the enigmatic and dangerous regions of Wormhole Space in EVE Online. None of the protagonists are actual characters or corporations in-game. All similarities with persons fictional or real are possibly coincidental and only sometimes intentional. - Emergent Patroller

OOC Entry 85 - I am still alive

Indeed I am, and it is not just an empty phrase but actually something I can be happy to write here. Since I am already busy with clicheed phrases I'll drop another one: I had a brush with death.

About a month ago I had an accident which was as dramatic as it was stupid and avoidable. I had slept too little and my thoughts were somewhere else and then my train of thought got derailed and wrecked, decommissioned and melted down as scrapmetal.

I could write a lot about the specifics, but if I'm honest I can't. Not quite yet. After having suffered quite some serious head trauma and spending almost two weeks in unconscious oblivion I am still busy regaining all my mental and physical faculties and writing while staring at a screen still takes quite some concentration for me.

It is getting much better though.

Actually I am supposed to do this as a practice now as part of my recovery - getting used to computer use again.

Well, I missed fanfest which really really annoys me in retrospect. I broke some bones and my mind collapsed like a house of cards with the deck then  being reshuffled and some cards hidden. Now I have to learn the conjurer's trick where you suddenly produce the vanished card from behind someones breast pocket or from behind their ear and eventually I will.

The first step will be to read all the stuff I have written and remember who my protagonists were.

Then, eventually, I hope to continue writing.

All I want to add at this point are my deepest and sincerest thanks to all the people who have worried about me and whose thoughts have been with me even at a time where I wasn't thinking at all about anything.

I guess now I really am a Sleeper who has awakened.

  1. Talk about picking a dramatic way to avoid meeting your corpmates at Fanfest! We washed and everything :-)

Great to see you getting back behind the keyboard, can't wait to see you flying around in space and getting me killed again.

  2. Glad to see you're getting better. Will be good once you can get back on team speak and back on eve.

  3. Damn, woman, I was wondering where you were. Glad to hear that it was 'only' a near brush with death, and not a head-on embrace. I wish you a speedy recovery!

  4. Soooo nice to have you back!
I was starting to get too worried about the fiction. And a little bit worried about you as well ... :PPP

    Hope you get well soon!

  5. Glad you didn't get podded! We were worried about you fool.
And regarding oreas statement, I'm 90% sure we were in the minority given the amount of quafe t-shirts I saw EVERY GOD DAMN DAY.

  6. Hey Aurelie, when you showed up in Jabber, that was the happiest I have been in a long time. Heal well, come back when you are ready. We will be waiting for you. Epi
